This morning on the Morning Routine with Rocki and Lacey, we were joined by Sharen Reichers, a senior director at Bunn Gourmet to talk all about women in coffee. First, we talked about how she got into the coffee business with Bunn Gourmet, she’s originally from the St Louis and has been with Bunn for 33 years-she ended up as a treasurer and board president of the global organization International Women’s Coffee Alliance.

If you’ve ever wondered who helps connect and support women throughout the coffee supply chain, WomenInCoffee.org is the online home of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA). The organization is dedicated to empowering women in the global coffee community by building leadership, creating opportunities, and strengthening connections across coffee-producing and coffee-consuming countries.

Founded on the belief that stronger opportunities for women lead to stronger communities, IWCA supports a network of more than 40 independent chapters around the world. These chapters work locally to provide education, professional development, networking, and market access for women involved in every stage of coffee, from farming and processing to roasting, exporting, and retail.

At its core, the organization believes that when women are empowered, the benefits extend far beyond individuals. By investing in women’s leadership and economic participation, IWCA helps create more resilient coffee communities and a more sustainable coffee industry worldwide.
