A Brooklyn, New York man died in a crash on Thursday morning that closed northbound Interstate 55 south of Springfield for several hours.
Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said the 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:45 a.m.
His name has not yet been released. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Illinois State Police Troop 6 said the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-tractor-trailer at milepost 83 near Glenarm. An investigation continues.
