Results of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote are in, and the winner is . . . Phish, with 330,000 votes.
Bad Company came in second with 281,000, followed by Billy Idol with 260,500.
Cyndi Lauper finished fourth with 237,000, and Joe Cocker rounds out the Top 5 with 234,000. The rest of the Top 10, in this order, is Soundgarden, Chubby Checker, the Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, and Joy Division/ New Order.
The fan vote doesn’t have a ton of influence on who makes the Hall.
It only counts for a SINGLE BALLOT, among roughly 1,200 that are cast. But there’s only one year when the winner of the fan vote didn’t make the Hall: It was the Dave Matthews Band in 2020. But they got in four years later.
This year’s inductees will be announced this Sunday night on “American Idol”.
