CWLP is notifying the public that beginning at 6:00 AM on Thursday, June 5, Springfield’s Fifth Street will be fully closed to traffic between South Grand Avenue and Ash Street to allow IDOT crews to begin reconstruction work for underground utility repairs.
The closure will remain until approximately 5:00 PM on Friday, June 6.
A detour route will direct traffic east on South Grand Avenue, south on 11th Street, and then west on Ash Street, returning to Fifth Street. Motorists are encouraged to plan, seek alternate routes when possible, and anticipate potential delays and increased congestion in the area.
