In today’s Circle of Friends segment, Rocki spoke with Ryan McCrady of the Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance about Illinois’ relationship with Mexico and the value it holds for both places. The discussion highlighted the importance of international collaboration, particularly when it comes to economic development and cultural exchange. .
The visit to Mexico included meaningful conversations with influential leaders and organizations, all aimed at opening doors for Illinois-based businesses and creating economic cooperation. Ryan emphasized how both sides found common ground and shared goals, from manufacturing to agriculture and technology.
One of the more memorable—and entertaining—aspects of the trip was Ryan’s willingness to dive into local culture, quite literally, by sampling some truly adventurous cuisine. In the name of building bridges, he tried cricket tacos!
Overall, the conversation was full of energy, optimism, and appreciation for the opportunities ahead. The visit was a reminder that diplomacy isn’t just about handshakes and business cards—sometimes it’s also about crickets on a tortilla.
Enjoy this week’s conversation!
