A list of movies that turn 50 this year include some all-time classics that you’re probably still watching. Or at least you SHOULD be.
Here’s a sample:
1. “Jaws”
2. “Deep Red” (An Italian horror masterpiece by the maestro himself, Dario Argento.)
3. “Funny Lady”
4. “Tommy”
5. “Dolemite”
6. “Death Race 2000” (PROFANITY WARNING: Featuring an early appearance by Sylvester Stallone as Machine Gun Joe Viterbo.)
7. “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”
8. “The Return of the Pink Panther”
9. “Nashville”
10. “Cooley High” (This movie was the inspiration for the sitcom “What’s Happening!!” . . . but it’s actually a lot more serious. No one gets caught illegally taping a Doobie Brothers concert in the movie.) (???)
11. “Rollerball”
12. “Picnic at Hanging Rock”
13. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”
14. “Dog Day Afternoon” (Attica! Attica!)
15. “Three Days of the Condor”
16. “The Sunshine Boys”
17. “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”
18. “The Hindenburg”
(Check out more here, along with each movie’s official “birthdate”. All in 1975, obviously.)
