The Fighting Illini Football team made a pretty big scheduling announcement on Tuesday as they will be entering into a two-year home and home agreement with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish starting in 2027.
The first of the two-game agreement will be September 4th, 2027, when the Illini visit South Bend. Then on September 2nd, 2028, the Fighting Irish will make their way to Champaign to take on the Illini.
The two-game series marks the first time in 59 years the two teams will square off on the gridiron.
The Notre Dame series replaces Missouri on Illinois’ 2027 and 2028 schedules.
