An assistant principal at Lanphier High School has been placed on paid leave after being arrested for aggravated battery involving at least two students at the school on Friday.

Board member Debi Iams cast the only vote against the budget. The 268-million-dollar spending plan has a deficit of 17.9 million dollars, which will be covered by reserves.

According to school officials a teacher discovered the students with the toy in a bathroom. The gun was quickly identified as a toy.

The 312 first-year student enrollment this fall is a 19 percent increase from one year ago.

The committee was established by consolidating four groups on women's athletics and minority and gender equity. Gooch will serve with representatives from all three NCAA divisions.

Gill has served in education for 35 years, 30 in District 186, including the last 12 years as District 186 superintendent.
