The Sangamon County Board on Tuesday approved implementing a 3-percent hotel-motel tax dedicated to expansion of the Bank of Springfield Center.

The transaction has been unanimously approved by each company's board of directors 00and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Under the new proposal the County would consider a countywide 3% hotel/motel tax dedicated exclusively to financing the expansion.
